Mitali Khanna Sharma is a writer, scholar, multi-disciplinary artist, & farmer working between culture, (agro)ecology, & the body. She is pursuing her Master's in Environment & Sustainability at the University of Michigan, where she thinks about food, land, & biocultural diversity while also teaching and mentoring undergraduates. With roots in Punjab and St. Louis, Mitali received her B.A. in English Literature with Honors from Columbia University in New York City in 2021. Her thesis on race, religion, and the history of ecological science in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales was awarded the John Vincent Hickey Prize for critical writing on poetry. Mita's own poetry has been published in Wordgathering, Cobra Milk, MAYDAY Magazine, & elsewhere. A chapbook, “Reliquary Bestiary,” is forthcoming with Black Sunflowers Poetry Press. She is a founding editor of Serabi, a zine-anthology on the liminal and transgressive in South/West Asia, and also served as Editor-in-Chief & Head of Design of Quarto Magazine. As a designer, she has collaborated with organizations such as A Growing Culture, La Vía Campesina, & The National Lawyers Guild, as well as individual clients.
